Razman vs Nizar

The much awaited appeal brought by YB Razman Zakaria against the decision of the Sessions Judge in a defamation suit by YB Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin against YB Razman Zakaria came up for hearing on 12/07/2018. However, the same was called off as the Judge appointed to hear the appeal and us (read Solicitors for the Appellant and Respondent) were feeling a little uncomfortable as the same Judge to hear the appeal had only last year heard another appeal in the same suit and had decided in favor of the Appellant.

The Judge took cognizance of the fact when the same was brought to His Lordship's knowledge and recused His Lordship's self.

The matter was immediately transferred to the Senior Assistant Registrar for mention and the Senior Assistant Registrar who gave us an audience agreed to refer the file to the Senior Judge, who will in return, assign a new Judge to hear the appeal.

The Senior Assistant Registrar fixed 18/07/2018 as the next case management date, on which date, the judge assigned to hear the Appeal will be named.
