All are equal before the law

Perhaps some enforcement authorities must be reminded that in Malaysia, we have what we call, the Federal Constitution and  Article 8(1) of the Federal Constitution provides that all persons are equal before the law and are entitled to the equal protection of the law.

The language used in in Article 8(1) of our Federal Constitution is as follows -

All persons are equal before the law and entitled to the equal protection of the law

The issue that I intend to address today is - are the enforcement authorities aware that Article 8(1) actually exist or have they been reminded to practice double standards. There are no fetters on Article 8(1) from the way I read it.

I need not go far - a so called celebrity has been going around running foul of the law and we are told that investigation papers have been opened and statements have been taken from her and her "religious" husband. They broke the law not once, they did it on numerous occasions, four if not five times.

Yesterday, a Member of Parliament, who should be up holding the law, broke it when he appeared on national television without wearing a face mask. Again, we were told that investigation papers have been opened against him and a statement will be recorded soon.

Why was Ahmad (bukan nama sebenar), slapped with a RM50,000-00 compound (negotiable though), for breaching SoP without a single investigation paper being opened and without his statement being recorded?. Was it because his act did not result in Kelantan getting annexed to Pahang like Nilai got annexed to Selangor when some people decided to rendezvous in Nilai?.

The list of double standards can go on, but I rather stop for fear of further embarrassing the relevant authorities.

When are we going to stop all this nonsense and start to consider Malaysians as Malaysians regardless of their standing in society? I hope it happens during my life time.
